Well, today is day 1 of my six month adventure in the IBM Corporate Service Corps program. Our first virtual team meeting is set for this Wednesday at 5am MT. With 15 people from 11 different countries on the team, I think the meeting time is not too bad. But you can bet Wednesday will be a two to three cup day of coffee to keep me going. :) So far, I have hit the ground running. I have gotten my CV and cover letter already submitted to our CSC Facilitator and NGO partners, created a wiki page for our team on the IBM CSC Community page, and completed my participant profile. I am still working on my goal setting, but already have a pretty good idea of what they are. Not too shabby for day 1. But there is still a long road ahead of us.
Right now, I am very curious as to how our virtual team begins our cohesion process. Is it going to be a rocky road or is the team building process going to happen naturally? I hope everyone is as much into this program as I am. If so, I think we will be ok.
Somehow I feel the work we are about to do is much bigger than I can picture just yet. I feel that at some predetermined point in time (not know to me), everything will click and be revealed. Not sure if it will happen before, during, or after the in-country trip. Part of me hopes it is before, but have a gut feeling it will happen during when I am able to interact with the people we are helping directly.
The world is what we make it, and I want to make it better....
Technically, it's 15 people from 12 countries :)
